Today is a day of rest not because I'm that particular kind of religious, but because in coming home from L's house last night, I slipped on the wet wooden stairs and hurt my already-bad ankle. It isn't too bad, thankfully, but resting it today and avoiding walking where I can will make sure I don't walk with too bad a limp tomorrow.

I blame last night's rain, of course. "Rain" seems too mild a term for what came down from the sky, though. It flooded a nearby school field, created rivers on the roads that sometimes came up past my ankle, and made walking home a very unpleasant experience. It stopped sometime this morning, though, and now we can see blue skies and relatively warm temperatures.

I say "relatively warm" because 13 degrees Celcius is pretty warm compared to what we've been going through lately, though it's not really unusual for this time of year. The cold came too early. It's nice to have a few warmer days before winter really sets in.

Though the chill in the air does wonders for my urge to knit. I walk home from work and feel that cripsness in the air, and I start to think about making warm woolly hats and scarves again, and I feel reinspired to pick up that pair of socks for R that have never been finished. Maybe this year they'll go from the needles to his feet!

R's going out today to go hunting for boots again, so I think I'll take this chance to catch up on some reading and knitting. No doubt when R gets back we'll both decide to be slackers for the rest of the day and just sit around watching movies. There are worse ways to spend a day off.
