I'm at that awful and annoying stage of being sick where I'm feeling better, but my nose is still very clogged and I can taste sickness on my breath. That may well be another one of those things that a lot of people don't understand. Tasting sickness. I'm sure some people are out there going, "But sickness doesn't have a taste. How can you taste illness?"

Believe me, I can. It's an unpleasant taste. It's not just the taste of bad breath. It's a taste that's slightly metallic, in the air coming from your lungs and in your nose, and it's what's left of the broken-down cells and bacteria or viruses that have been invading your system for the past while.

So I'm sucking on strong-flavoured cough drops to help take the taste away. Fortunately, this sort of thing only lasts a day or so with me, but it's a day or so too long for my liking.

R and I woke up this morning to hear torrential rain outside. Poor R had to go to work, and I had planned to go out and pick up a new bus pass and time sheets for my upcoming temporary job, but given that R took the only raincoat in the apartment, I decided to put that off until tomorrow. I can wait a day, and I'd rather not be out in the cold and the wet while I'm still sick.

I wish R didn't have to be out either. He's still sick too, but couldn't afford to call in sick to work today. Only a few more hours until he comes home, though, and then we can spend a bit of time together before we're too tired to keep our eyes open anymore.
